Resources We Like: Where NYC Co-op and Condo Boards Can Learn More

Running a self-managed building in New York City means wearing a lot of hats. Between annual filings, board meetings, vendor relationships, and keeping shareholders or unit owners informed, it's easy to feel like you're figuring things out on your own.

You're not. There's a solid ecosystem of publications, organizations, communities, and blogs that have been serving NYC co-op and condo boards for years. We didn't build any of them — and we're not affiliated with any of them — but we read them, and we think you should too.

The Cooperator cooperatornews.com

The Cooperator has been the trade publication of record for NYC's co-op and condo community for years. It covers everything from local law changes and financing to board governance, vendor relationships, and real-world stories from buildings like yours. If you only bookmark one resource on this list, make it this one.

Habitat Magazine habitatmag.com

Habitat is aimed at board directors, property managers, and professionals in the co-op and condo community. Habitat Magazine Their content is practical and board-focused, and they have a Q&A section where professionals in law, finance, and building management answer common questions. Worth signing up for their newsletter.

Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums (CNYC) cnyc.com

CNYC is a not-for-profit membership organization that's been serving NYC co-ops and condos since 1975. They offer educational meetings, workshops, seminars, and an annual housing conference. Membership is affordable and gives you access to a network of fellow board members navigating the same challenges.

The Folson Group Blog thefolsongroup.com/blog

The Folson Group publishes practical articles on financial management and building operations for NYC co-op and condo boards. The Folson Group Their posts on budgeting, capital planning, and local law deadlines are some of the most actionable board-focused writing we've come across. They're a consulting firm, not a publication — but their blog punches above its weight.

r/NYCapartments reddit.com/r/NYCapartments

Not co-op or condo specific, but one of the most active NYC housing communities online. Board-related questions come up regularly and the answers are often candid in ways that polished publications aren't. Good for a gut check on what real residents are dealing with.

We'll keep adding to this list. If there's a resource you've found helpful that we missed, let us know at hello@ourstoop.nyc.
